The plane had taken off from Atlanta in the US state of Georgia on Monday.

Shortly after landing at Los Angeles International Airport in California, an ambulance had to arrive.

The crew reported that there was a handcuffed man on board, as reported by CNN.

He had previously beaten other travelers and even bitten one. The man in restraints was taken to hospital for a psychological examination.

The paramedics then returned to examine the injured man. It is not known what happened to the troublemaker - he was probably reported to the police.

"Delta has zero tolerance for improper behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement," said airline spokeswoman Samantha Moore Facteau.
