Poured over with hot coffee: Teenager sues airline for 660,000 euros
Miami (Florida/USA) - A 14-year-old girl is suing British Airways for around 660,000 euros for gross negligence. During a flight from London to Miami, a flight attendant poured scalding hot coffee over the girl. The result: second-degree burns and permanent scars.

The incident occurred on October 18, 2023, Aviation A2Z reports.
The teenager was on her way to Miami to visit Disney World when the scalding hot coffee ran over her knees and thighs during the flight .
While she screamed in pain, the crew's response was "alarmingly inadequate", according to the lawsuit. Instead of medical help, there were only handkerchiefs.
A doctor on board diagnosed the serious injury - but there was a lack of medical care.
When a flight attendant was shown pictures of the burns, she is said to have been shocked, but ultimately only offered the girl a few chocolates as consolation.

Even after landing, the girl was not helped
Even when she landed in Miami, no medical staff were waiting for her. Her planned trip to Disney World was canceled, and instead a long ordeal with pain, restricted movement and psychological consequences followed.
Almost two years later, the scar remains, as does the family's anger. She is now claiming compensation in court, citing the Montreal Convention, which makes airlines liable for personal injury on international flights.
