Brave rescue operation: man climbs into alligator lake to help injured animal
Florida (USA) - A man from the US state of Florida saved the day for an injured bald eagle whose life was in danger.

A few days ago, Doug Hay (69) heard something crashing into the lake next to his ranch. Together with his wife, he went to investigate the cause of the noise.
As he told FOX 13, he discovered an injured bald eagle in the middle of the lake, desperately trying to stay afloat with its wings.
Another gigantic specimen was circling above the water. Doug suspects that the two animals were fighting with each other before one of the eagles plunged into the water, seriously injured.
But instead of being safe from its attacker, the next danger lurked in the lake for the bald eagle. According to Doug, at least one alligator had been calling it home for some time.
When the 69-year-old realized what a critical situation the bird was in, he waded into the water and swam towards it to save it.
Laborious rescue operation for eagles in distress a success

When the American finally reached the eagle, it clawed at his arms. In a video, Doug's wife captures the laborious journey back to the shore.
Initially, the couple hoped that the eagle would recover under its own power and be able to fly away. But when it became clear that his injuries were too serious, they called wildlife rescue.
The Wildlife Center of Southwest Florida is now caring for the bald eagle, who is struggling with injuries to his chest cavity.
Doug also suffered some wounds from his rescue operation, but he said he would always come to the aid of the "symbol of America".
