Border Collie meets Baby for the first time, but something else is much more important to him
Gold Coast (Australia) - When Brooke Thomo (30) became a mother, she was eagerly awaiting the moment when her newborn would meet her soulmate - dog Cedar. When the time finally came, something happened that the Australian didn't expect and yet didn't find surprising.

Every first meeting after giving birth is something very special for the new mother - especially when the hormones are still on a rollercoaster anyway. But Border Collie Cedar really took things to the extreme.
When the dog was brought to the baby and the proud mommy, the four-legged friend naturally pounced on the tiny infant first and sniffed the new inhabitant of the earth extensively.
However, this only lasted for a few seconds, as Cedar then turned her attention to her owner and seemed to inquire about her condition by gently pushing her muzzle against her owner's neck and letting it linger there. It was as if the animal was saying to the Australian - "I hope you're okay. You made it!".
In a video, you can see Cedar giving Brooke another intense look, perhaps to show her that although everything will now revolve around the baby, her owner still comes first for her. Afterwards, there was a loving hug, dog-style.
Video: Bitch meets baby for the first time, but prefers to take care of mom

The Instagram video was rightly clicked millions of times within a few days. Because it shows what many - people - quickly forget after the birth of a child: the mother. After all, she was the one who carried the baby under her heart for months, endured the discomfort of pregnancy and then had to manage the birth.
But instead of resting now, things continue for the new mom: while her body has to recover from the stresses and strains, she faces sleepless nights, breastfeeding may not work right from the start and, quite apart from the hormonal chaos, you first have to find your feet in your new role as a mother.
So it's all the nicer to have someone to show you that you don't have to go through it all alone - be it your partner or, as in Brooke's case, a pet.
The 30-year-old evendescribes her four-legged friend as a "soulmate" who simply "knew" what her exhausted mother needed at that moment.
