Surrey (England) - When sheer panic turns into a fit of laughter after a short time, then Golden Retriever Brooklyn is not far away. Although "far" is actually the right word here.

Last week, the dog and his owner were around 800 meters away from their home in Surrey, England, when he ran away from a dog park.

The British man called his wife Penny France (35) in a panic and described the situation to her: he had been in the park with their two golden retrievers when the accident happened.

After all, the distraught owner hoped that Brooklyn might have tried to walk home alone. His wife then looked out of the window. But at first there was no sign of her golden retriever .

But then she spotted him a short time later in the distance. France then grabbed her cell phone and was able to film the four-legged friend running straight through the backyard door back into her garden.

The relieved dog owner could hardly contain her laughter. But there was a second reason for this.

"I couldn't stop laughing because he looked so angry because he had to go out so early," the 35-year-old said in an interview with Newsweek. "He's a morning person and likes to sleep in," she added.

After later showing the clip to some colleagues at work, the Englishwoman decided to upload it to TikTok . It soon drew laughter from the audience.

In the first three days since its publication, 2.2 million clicks have been accumulated. Users have also given it more than 200,000 likes so far.

"I really had no idea it would be so popular. The reactions have been great, with some hilarious comments," France told the US magazine.

So Brooklyn's escape has really paid off!
