Daughter of Trump supporter Giuliani calls for the election of Kamala Harris

USA - From crisis manager to mocked: Rudy Giuliani (80) is experiencing an unprecedented fall from grace. Now the daughter of the Trump confidant is speaking out - with an election recommendation.

The daughter of long-time Trump ally Rudy Giuliani has urged people to vote for Democratic US presidential candidate Kamala Harris.

Her Republican opponent Donald Trump is "currently the biggest threat to our country", Caroline Rose Giuliani (35) told US broadcaster CNN.

"He is willing to hurt his own people just to have power, and Kamala Harris would never do that. She is a woman who has spent her entire career fighting for the people," warned the 35-year-old.

Rudy Giuliani: once respected, now ridiculed

During Trump's time in office, Giuliani was considered a close ally of the former US president, but he is now struggling with a number of legal problems.

Most recently, he lost his law license and was charged in the US state of Arizona in connection with attempts to influence the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

The former mayor of New York - Trump's home city - was once highly respected. As mayor of the metropolis during the September 11 attacks, he was something of a top crisis coordinator.

In recent years, however, the 80-year-old has been increasingly ridiculed for a number of bizarre appearances.

In July, he crashed into an empty row of chairs at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee. The media repeatedly reported that the ex-mayor had a drinking problem. The public prosecutor's office also scrutinized Giuliani's alcohol consumption in connection with investigations against him.

However, Giuliani rejects this.

"He is still my father"

Giuliani's daughter published a text about her father in "Vanity Fair" magazine a few days ago. "Watching my father's life crumble since he allied himself with Trump has been extraordinarily painful," she wrote.

"My father and I have a cartoonishly complicated relationship. But he is still my father, and despite his flaws, I love him." She had witnessed him experience "surreal highs" and now also "unfathomable lows".

"The deeper my father gets into the quicksand of his problems, the more fleeting our opportunities to meet as father and daughter become."
