Years ago, Silvia N. came to Italy with her husband, they bought a property in Campania and lived their dream.

On Friday morning, officers from the Castellabate municipal police made a terrible discovery. In the dense undergrowth, very close to their house, they found the body of the missing German woman, reports"Corriere della Sera".

The 53-year-old had burns all over her body - the investigators must assume that she had been the victim of violence.

According to her partner (also German), the victim left their home on Tuesday morning without taking any belongings with her. A surveillance camera filmed Silvia, who was wearing a white T-shirt and Capri pants, in the center of the small town of Castellabate. Then her trail vanished into thin air.

On the same day, her worried husband filed a missing persons report, and since then police officers, disaster relief workers and sniffer dogs have been combing the area, according to a report by the ANSA news agency.

Now the sad certainty.

After the shock discovery, Castellabate (population just under 10,000) is very shocked. The German couple were well-known in the town and were considered to be well integrated. "They had been living here for several years," Marco Rizzo, mayor of the municipality, told Corriere.

"I think they even bought a house. They had integrated and were well known in the area. We have no reports of critical problems or incidents of violence of any kind against them."

The husband has since been questioned by the police. He is presumed innocent. The investigation is ongoing.
