Pedestrian declared dead after accident: his wife mourns, then the police get in touch

Las Vegas (USA) - First alive, then dead, suddenly resurrected: That is the story of Brandon Green. The 37-year-old pedestrian was hit by a car and seriously injured. The driver fled, the police were sloppy.

Esther Acosta's world fell apart when she received the news from the police that her beloved husband had died.

Green was taken to the University Medical Center in Las Vegas with brain hemorrhages, blood clots and broken bones after his accident on September 15 of this year.

Shortly beforehand, he had been run over by an unknown driver. As 8 News Now reported, Green was treated at the hospital after the accident and was pronounced dead by a coroner a few days later.

"It was as if I had been hit by a blow, I was in shock. It was unbelievable. I just couldn't believe it," said his wife Esther, looking back on the moment.

Acosta's pain lasted for a whole day. Until the police contacted her again. This time, however, the officers had good news up their sleeves: her husband Brandon was still alive after all, the coroner had mistaken him for another man.

Since then, Acosta has been going to the hospital every day, visiting her Brandon and hoping that he can return home quickly. "At the moment, I'm a single parent," said the American. Their two daughters have to cope without their father.

The doctors treating Green expect that he will have to stay in hospital for at least another two, maybe even three months.

Meanwhile, Esther Acosta wonders how a responsible person can remain silent after such a terrible incident and lead a normal life with the images in their head.

The Las Vegaspolice are still groping in the dark, unable to say anything about the license plate number of the car involved in the accident or the description of the perpetrator.
