Duty roster dispute escalates: Nurse brutally hits boss with a hammer!
England - A nurse who tried to kill her boss with a hammer sent a disturbing message to a friend after the horrific act. Now she has been convicted.
Greater Manchester Police said in a statement that 46-year-old Stacey Smith was sentenced yesterday (Tuesday) to 20 years in prison with a further five years suspended.
Smith was charged with two counts of possession of an offensive weapon and attempted murder for attempting to kill her former boss with a hammer attack.
The crime, which took place back in November 2023, occurred in the early hours of the morning as Smith waited outside her boss's home in England. She knew that she would be coming out at any moment to go to work. When Michala Morton finally left the house, the 46-year-old attacked her with a hammer, causing serious head injuries.
Morton also suffered a broken wrist when she tried to defend herself. During the attack, Smith repeatedly shouted to her boss that she would kill her before fleeing.
When neighbors heard the screams, they rushed over, administered first aid and alerted the emergency services.

After the gruesome act, the 46-year-old sent a macabre message to a friend: "I did it. I bashed her head in. Oops, xx!"
Shortly afterwards, Smith apparently repented of her attack and handed herself in at a police station, where she was arrested for attempted murder.
When questioned by police, Smith explained that the conflict stemmed from a dispute over shift schedules and that her relationship with her supervisor had deteriorated since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Smith pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm but denied attempted murder. In addition to the prison sentence, a lifetime restraining order was imposed on her, prohibiting her from having any contact with the victim.
