Couple buys house: what they find under the old carpet leaves them speechless
London (England) - First one, then the second, then the big surprise: Charlie (30) and his girlfriend Neha (30) were stunned when they saw what was hidden under the carpets of their newly purchased house in London a few days ago. The mood on TikTok is similar. Since Sunday, the video has received more than five million clicks.
In the curious clip (see below), Charlie has to grin broadly because he has obviously already seen what's going on elsewhere.
So he knowingly pulls off both carpets and then announces his discovery: a beautifully preserved parquet floor.
"We were shocked to find the original floor because the seller hadn't told us there was hardwood flooring under the rug," his fiancée Neha told Newsweek this week.
The couple had prepared to spend a lot of money because hardwood floors in London now cost around 60 euros per square meter.
Under the circumstances, their conclusion is a tough one.
Viral TikTok hit shows curious find under the carpet
"I honestly believe that if the sellers had removed all the carpet and then put the house on the market, we wouldn't have had a chance of getting this house," the couple explained.
That's how many TikTok users see it too, who are almost as impressed by the discovery as the new homeowners. In addition to more than 169,000 likes, they left numerous comments.
Some have completely different discoveries to report. One user writes that she found "cat urine" and "asbestos tiles" under the carpets of the house she bought.
Under these circumstances, Charlie and Neha can be even happier about their lucky discovery.
And yet they are still not sure whether they want to keep the parquet flooring or replace it with a new one.
