A bizarre idea: why amateur chefs sink their turkeys in the lake

Salt Lake City - Thanksgiving in the USA is the time of year when families come together. For many, however, there is another thing that takes center stage: the festive food - especially the turkey. Amateur chefs always come up with strange ideas, which is why an official warning has now been issued.

The warning itself comes from the Instagram profile of the "Great Salt Lake State Park" in Utah. The famous salt lake located there is almost as salty as the Dead Sea, which some people apparently find very practical.

"Just an annual reminder: don't use the Great Salt Lake to salt your turkey," the article says.

In fact, there are always people who want to put this curious plan into practice.

Just earlier this week, there was an unfortunate attempt that ended in disaster for one poor turkey lover: during the procedure, the person apparently disregarded the swell and the festive meal and packaging were swallowed up by the lake. The wrapped bird was later found on nearby Silver Sands Beach.

Its former owner never saw the turkey again - and the lakeis actually far too salty for such an undertaking anyway. So the next turkey will probably be seasoned traditionally in the kitchen again.
