A woman buys a lantern for just under four euros: When she realizes the true value, she is flabbergasted
Massachusetts (USA) - A woman from the USA bought a lantern in a second-hand store for very little money. While browsing the internet, she soon found out the true value of the item.
On December 26, user "AlarmingReference777" said she bought a lantern for a mere four US dollars (the equivalent of around 3.85 euros), as she reported on Reddit.
On closer inspection, the US-American realized that her latest "treasure" is made of porcelain and was produced at the Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg in Munich.
But that's not all: on the manufactory's sales page, the coral lantern is offered for a whopping 1903 US dollars (the equivalent of around 1831 euros).
"When I got home, I looked for the candle holder online. I didn't want to know how much it cost new, I just wanted some information about it. When I saw the price, however, I was shocked. I had no idea it was so expensive," said the anonymous lady in an interview with "Newsweek".
Buyer will probably keep the lantern
She shared her incredible find on Reddit. Within a few days, her post went viral. Many Reddit users and even her boyfriend encouraged the buyer to sell the high-quality lantern for a profit.
But the Reddit user apparently has other plans: "I don't go to second-hand stores to resell things I've bought."
After all, her newly acquired item is "beautiful and super cool".
