Abandoned cat has a note with him: when rescuers read it, they are heartbroken
Philadelphia (Pennsylvania) - Abandoned in the cold and injured: Felix the cat was a pile of misery when staff from the Pennsylvania SPCA found him outside their shelter in Philadelphia. The poor cat had been sitting in a box in which he had been abandoned last month. At least his owner had left a note.

"Hello, my name is Felix. Please take care of my leg and castrate me. My mom can't afford me anymore! I am sweet and loving. Please find me a new home. Thank you so much," the woman wrote.
The carers were doubly saddened. "We were heartbroken that he was left out in the cold all alone," a shelter representative told The Dodo this week.
"But we were also heartbroken that his owner thought that was the only option," he added.
This made it all the more important to treat the cat 's injured leg quickly.
But does Felix have any chance of finding a home again in the future?
Felix the cat is still stuck in the shelter a few weeks after his arrival

"Felix was understandably nervous when he was here for the first time. But you could tell he was eager to trust," explained the shelter worker.
After a few weeks at the Pennsylvania SPCA, the furry friend has slowly gotten used to everything. His wound has also almost completely healed. But a new home is still a long way off.
In an interview with The Dodo, however, the employee is calm: "Felix could live in most homes (...) He is very affectionate and playful. He definitely hasn't let his past define him." So Felix seems to have a good chance of a fresh start.
Meanwhile, the employee warns: "Unfortunately, we find a handful of animals abandoned at our shelterevery year (...) We ask the public to contact us if they are having problems caring for their pet."
