After fatal shark attack: victim identified, woman screamed for help from the shore
Marsa Alam (Egypt) - The victim of a fatal shark attack in the Red Sea has now been identified. It is a 48-year-old man from Italy.

As People reported, Gianluca Di Gioia, who was killed in the attack, was visiting the popular resort of Marsa Alam on the Egyptian coast with his wife.
On the occasion of Gianluca's birthday on December 21, the couple and their family spent time together in a restaurant.
One day later, the 48-year-old went swimming at the beach, but entered deep water that was no longer part of the marked swimming area.
When the tourist was attacked by the shark, a 69-year-old friend came to his aid. He tried in vain to save Gianluca and suffered superficial wounds himself.
Meanwhile, the vacationer's girlfriend stood on the shore and screamed desperately for help.
Gianluca, who was bornin Italy , lived with his family in France. He most recently worked as a civil servant at the European Union and married his wife in 2013.

Italian embassy in Cairo offers help to the victim's family
Gianluca's lifeless body is reportedly in the morgue at Port Ghalib Hospital. The investigation into his death is still ongoing. The Egyptian Ministry of Environment announced that the area where the attack took place will remain closed until January 1.
According to People, the Italian embassy in Cairo has offered its support to the 48-year-old's family.
