Her relatives did not hear from the Hawaiian woman for a good month.

As the New York Post reported, she got back in touch with her family by phone last week after traveling to Mexico .

Her sister Sydni said that she and her mother had spoken to Hannah but still did not know exactly where she was.

Yesterday, Thursday, she said the whole situation was "absolute hell" for the family.

"At this time, my mother and I have not seen Hannah in person. We have no actual proof of where she is, except that she is somewhere in Mexico," Sydni said.

She added: "We've only spoken to her on the phone and she was reportedly found safe with [our aunt] Larie, but at the moment she doesn't want to come back to us."

The family said that while they were extremely relieved and happy that Hannah was alive and apparently okay, there were mixed and overwhelming feelings of exhaustion, devastation and betrayal.

Hannah's disappearance was not the only blow the family had to cope with: her father, Ryan Kobayashi, is believed to have died by suicide while in Los Angeles to help search for his daughter.

The 31-year-old was considered missing after she was stranded in Los Angeles because she missed her connecting flight to New York.
