Airline employee sexually harassed and robbed!

Nadi (Viti Levu, Fiji Islands) - Three employees of the Australian airline Virgin Australia are said to have been victims of robbery and sexual harassment during their stay in Fiji. The country's tourism minister commented on the incidents and criticized the reporting.

The two incidents are said to have occurred - independently of each other - during a trip on New Year's Eve in the city of Nadi.

Virgin Australia confirmed the incident, but did not provide any further details. According to 7NEWS, an internal email spoke of a "serious security incident".

After becoming aware of the incident, the airline sent a team to investigate and a replacement crew to accompany the aircraft on its return journey to Australia.

In the meantime, a suspect has been questioned by the local police about the alleged sexual assault.

This was also confirmed by Fiji's Tourism Minister Viliame "Bill" R. Gavoka (74). He commentedon the regrettable incidentson Facebook .

In the statement, Gavoka also referred to media reports claiming that the employees were being held in a hotel.

He called on people to refrain from sensational reports without facts.

"The three crew members have been instructed by their headquarters to remain near the hotel to ensure their accessibility and to assist the police investigation; they should return home before the end of this week," he explained.

In addition, the 74-year-old expressed his condolences to the victims and appealed to travelers in the country.

"Unfortunately, incidents like this can happen anywhere and Fiji is not immune. As always, we remind tourists to exercise caution in nightclub areas and late at night," the statement concluded.
