Animal rights activists find cat half-frozen and wounded in the snow: when owner finds out, he reacts unexpectedly
Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) - What a sad sight: A poor cat lay half-frozen and lifeless on a street near the US metropolis of Pittsburgh last month. After receiving a tip, animal rights activist Carly Toth rescued the poor creature and rushed it to the "Pet Friends" veterinary clinic. There, a race against time began.

"She was as cold as she could be," Toth said in an interview with The Dodo last week. "It took three hours for the thermometer to even show her temperature," she added.
The vets and their helpers did everything they could to bring the poor velvet paw back to life . She was placed on a heating pad and wrapped in a thick blanket.
Veterinary assistant Lizzie B. actively helped when it became clear that the cat at least still had a weak pulse. However, nobody knew at the time whether the little one would make it.
The furry friend was not only freezing cold, she also had wounds on her legs caused by an infection. Finally, the vet discovered her microchip and informed the owner.
But the owner reacted differently than expected.
In January, the cat's story was also shared on Facebook

Instead of being happy that his cat had reappeared, he told the team that he no longer wanted her.
After all: Birthday, as she was soon called, gradually recovered from her exertions. Nevertheless, one of her legs could not be saved. It was amputated.
Her carer Lizzie B. in particular was increasingly affected by the cat's fate until she finally made a heartbreaking decision.
"I was one of the first carers to help her when she woke up. And when I held her the other day, I thought: 'I can't let you go anywhere else'."
So Birthday now has a happy ending. Now the velvet paw finally has the owner she deserves.
