The incident occurred last Saturday.

As the New York Post now reports, the vehicle was traveling on the tarmac when it was hit by an American Airlines plane that had just landed.

The car was overturned by the impact and the United Airlines employee became trapped.

The 64-year-old was quickly freed but had to be taken to hospital in a critical condition.

He suffered serious injuries to his head and lower body, but has since been stabilized.

"We are ensuring that he receives the necessary support and care," said United Airlines.

Passengers on board the aircraft were not injured and were able to disembark normally.

The incident follows recent air disasters in which a helicopter collided with a passenger plane in the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C., a plane crashed over Philadelphia and a plane burned in Texas.

The investigation is ongoing.
