Another horror crash on the Stelvio! Swiss man has to be transported away by rescue helicopter
Bormio (Italy) - The horror reports from Bormio in Italy just don't stop! After three bad crashes in the alpine skiing circus during training on Friday, the first skier - the Swiss Gino Caviezel (32) - was hit in the super-G on Sunday.

Shortly before the steep slope on the dangerous "Stelvio", he caught on a gate, lost a ski, fell and then slid down the slope.
The apparently seriously injured Swiss skier immediately raised his hand to signal that he needed help.
Meanwhile, the rescue helicopter took off and finally transported Caviezel away after a long treatment break in the snow.
There is currently no information on his condition. After the Swiss was treated, the race continued. In the end, the Norwegian Frederik Moeller won ahead of the Austrian Vincent Kriechmeyer and the Swiss Alexis Monney.
The press release from Swiss Ski after the end of the race only stated that Caviezel had crashed heavily. There is no diagnosis yet.

Alpine skiing in Bormio: Superstar Alexis Pinturault even cancels his start on Sunday

In the ZDF report, however, there was talk of pain in the knee and shoulder.
Cyprien Sarrazin (30), Josua Mettler (26) and Pietro Zazzi (30) had already been hit on Friday. This was followed by severe criticism of those responsible for the downhill for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
On Sunday, shortly before the super-G, even French superstar Alexis Pinturault (33) canceled his start.
"Sometimes common sense has to prevail. Physically and mentally, I'm not in the right condition to start this morning," he wrote on X with regard to his seriously head-injured team-mate Sarrazin.
