Milwaukee (USA) - An unbelievable act in the US state of Wisconsin: a 31-year-old man threw a young woman's daughter off a balcony during an argument.

Little Stormy is just one year old and has had to go through the unimaginable. According to several media reports, the shocking incident took place last week in North Milwaukee, a city on Lake Michigan.

The girl's mother, Shakira Walters (25), and Jaimann Eiland (31) got into an argument there. According to reports, the latter is the ex-husband of Shakira's mother.

The argument eventually escalated to such an extent that a real "tug-of-war" began over the one-year-old, according to reports in the Mirror, among others.

Earlier, her mother had come home and heard her baby crying. When she wanted to know from Eiland what had happened, the argument got out of hand.

The 31-year-old then allegedly threatened the woman with a knife and said: "You're going to die today."

After the entire situation had shifted to the balcony of the apartment, the accused allegedly grabbed the girl and held her by the head over the parapet. Suddenly he let go and the child fell several meters onto a green area.

Stormy miraculously survived the fall and "only" suffered bruises. "She could have died", said mother Shakira in an interview. Eiland had "definitely tried to kill my baby".

She herself is said to have sprained a finger and suffered a cut to her head during the fight.

The young mother took her daughter to hospital, where the police were informed. Two days later, the 31-year-old was arrested.

While Shakira's mother is said to have blamed her daughter for the fight, Eiland admitted the altercation but denied having thrown the girl off the balcony.

He was nevertheless charged with assault and is not allowed to approach the family. If convicted, he faces up to 16 years in prison and a heavy fine.
