"There are twelve foreign fighters among them," said General Mohamed Ahmed, the military spokesman for the semi-autonomous region of Puntland, where the attack took place yesterday, Saturday. "We believe they are mainly from Arab countries." The information could not be independently verified at this time.

Trump (78) wrote on Platform X on Saturday that he had ordered the airstrikes. The caves in which the IS fighters lived were destroyed and many terrorists were killed. The message to IS and other terrorist groups was: "We will find you and we will kill you."

In the past, there have been repeated US drone attacks against Islamist terrorists in Somalia. As a rule, however, these have not been publicly highlighted.

Last month, the Puntland authorities announced an offensive against the Islamists in a mountainous region. At the time, there was also talk of air support from the United Arab Emirates.

Somalia has been fighting Islamists for years, who have carried out terrorist attacks both in the country itself and in neighboring states. In addition to IS fighters, the terrorist militia Al-Shabaab is the main threat to the country on the Horn of Africa.
