Krakow (Poland) - A man has stabbed a doctor in a hospital in Poland , seriously injuring him. The doctor died shortly afterwards, according to the Ministry of Health in Warsaw.

The 35-year-old suspect stormed into the orthopaedics department of the Krakow University Hospital on Tuesday morning, according to the police.
There he entered a treatment room where the doctor was treating a patient. The man stabbed the orthopaedic surgeon several times in the stomach with a sharp object.
Although more than 20 doctors and nurses attended to the injured man, it was too late to help him. The attacker was overpowered by the hospital's security service and was subsequently taken into police custody.
Hospital director Marcin Jedrychowski told the PAP news agency that the perpetrator was a patient at the hospital who was not satisfied with the course of his treatment.

The man had previously submitted a complaint against the clinic to the patient ombudsman, but the ombudsman had not found anything wrong with the treatment.
Poland's Health Minister Izabela Leszczyna expressed her horror at the attack. "Aggression against those who are on duty to save our health and our lives is barbaric and deserves the highest punishment," she wrote on X .
