Rapid City (South Dakota/USA) - Because she pulled on his T-shirt! A 45-year-old man was sentenced to prison earlier this week. The reason: he allegedly killed his partner with a can of beans.

Yes, you read that right, with a can of beans! But what exactly happened?

As True Crime News reported, the terrifying case took place back in November 2023, when Edleigha Little (40) and Pedro Simental (45) got into an argument. Little is said to have torn at her boyfriend's football shirt.

Simental then grabbed a can of beans and hit the 40-year-old in the head with such force that she suffered a brain haemorrhage and died shortly afterwards.

It is unclear exactly why he grabbed the can. However, he himself claims that he only wanted to shake it off him.

In court, the jury finally faced a challenge.

As Little was drunk at the time of the attack and was considered an alcoholic, it was questioned whether her already fragile health could have been to blame for her getting the hematoma in the first place.

Simental himself is also said not to feel responsible for the 40-year-old's death. Even though he had attacked her with the can himself.

During the trial, among others, Little's niece also took the stand and described her aunt as a "caring and considerate person" who had been repeatedly abused by Simental.

She therefore asked the judge for a long prison sentence in the hope that "no other woman and her family" would have to suffer such a fate again.

Fortunately, the young woman's words were heard: this week, Simental was sentenced to a full 15 years behind barsfor murder .
