Brutal attack in the city center! Ex-Bundesliga professional suffers basilar skull fracture

Vienna (Austria) - Brutal act in the heart of the Austrian capital, against a former Bundesliga professional! Guido Burgstaller (35) was the victim of a brutal violent crime in the center of Vienna.

According to consistent media reports, the attacking player from first division club SK Rapid was attacked by an as yet unknown man in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He suffered serious head injuries as a result, his club announced this Monday morning.

As a result of the attack, he suffered "a basilar skull fracture, among other injuries, following a fall caused by a brutal blow", the official statement continued.

The 35-year-old was taken to the city hospital following the vicious attack, where he will "unfortunately have to spend the next few days". It is also certain that he will not be available to the club for several months.

Guido Burgstaller attacked on the street

As reported by Heute.at, Burgstaller had previously been partying in the Volksgarten club. On his way home, the stranger suddenly attacked him - and then fled in an unknown direction, the national tabloid reported, citing police information.

Burgstaller has been kicking for the capital city club since 2022, having previously spent years in the Bundesliga. In addition to 1. FC Nürnberg (2015-2017) and Schalke 04 (2017-2020), the striker also played for St. Pauli. He also made a total of 26 appearances for the Austrian national team.
