Can it get any closer? Plane with 171 people on board almost lands in the sea
Molde (Norway) - That was a close call! A stroke of luck for 171 people on board a Boeing 737-800 aircraft on the northern shore of the Moldefjord.

As it became known yesterday evening, the plane of the low-cost airline Norwegian Air Shuttle came off the approximately 2,200-metre runway on landing at Molde-Arø Airport and came to rest just a few meters from the sea.
Flight DY430 had previously taken off from the capital Oslo with 165 passengers and six crew members on board.
At 19:03, around 44 minutes after take-off, the pilot had set out to land on the runway surrounded by the Fannefjord. The plane skidded to the right over the tarmac for as yet unexplained reasons and almost crashed into the ice-cold water.
The doors of the plane were opened immediately and the passengers were brought to safety via the emergency slides. But there was no cause for concern as no one was injured in the incident. This was reported by Verdens Gang (VG) with reference to investigative circles.
A spokeswoman for the airline assured the national daily newspaper that no such incident had ever occurred before. However, she could not give any more explicit details about the exact cause.

Literally overshot the mark! Plane skids across the runway
"I think we will get more answers at the weekend. Our own technician is in Molde and is working with the Norwegian authorities."
As a result of the accident, the airport, located five kilometers east of the city center, was temporarily shut down. However, it has been fully operational again since the early hours of Friday morning.
An investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
