Cave drama: Explorer trapped after fall!

Bergamo (Italy) - This is not the first time that cave explorer Ottavia Piana has been in danger: last year she fell during an expedition in the same cave and had to hold out for several days.

As Il Giornale di Vicenza reports, the 32-year-old suffered serious injuries on Saturday during an expedition in the "Abisso Bueno Fonteno" cave and has been trapped at a depth of around 600 meters ever since.

Piana slipped and fell eight meters, suffering fractures to her legs, chest and face. Her companions immediately made an emergency call.

However, the rescue is proving to be extremely complex due to the difficult conditions. Around 100 people are now working to free Piana from the cave.

This is not the first time for the explorer: last July, she had to hold out for two days after an accident.

On Sunday afternoon, two doctors managed to reach the explorer and treat her.

She was taken to a relatively safe place in the cave, where a heated base camp was set up to stabilize her better.

At the same time, work is underway to extend the rescue route. Explosives are being used to open up the narrow cave passage.

Despite the progress made, it remains unclear how long the rescue operation will take.

The road to freedom is long and the conditions are extremely challenging.
