In a TikTok video that has already achieved over 2.4 million views, horrified American Monica Long recounted the curious incident.

As People reported, the single mother said she had only left her children unattended for a brief moment while she went to the toilet.

When she returned, she found her children, aged two and three, playing - but not with toys, but with their grandfather's ashes! The remains were scattered all over the floor, as well as on the children's bodies and faces.

At first, she didn't realize it was the ashes and washed the supposed "dirt" off her offspring before vacuuming the floor.

It wasn't until days later, when she discovered the empty container that normally held her grandfather's ashes, that she realized what had happened!

"They got it and dumped it all over my carpet and I didn't realize it was PawPaw and I sucked it up," Monica said in the viral clip.

But the situation got even more bizarre: she even suggested that her children may have swallowed some of the remains, as one of them had the cap of the urn in their mouth.

Despite the shocking incident, Monica remained calm. She believes that her grandfather would have taken the situation with humor and his surviving wife also found the incident funny.

Fortunately, the spilled ashes were only a small portion that the family had kept. The majority of the grandfather's remains rest safely in a cemetery.
