Data super-GAU threatens! First division soccer club attacked by hackers
Bologna (Italy) - The Italian first division soccer team FC Bologna 1909 has been the target of a cyberattack - and must now fear the publication of highly sensitive data.

As the current eighth-placed team announced in an official statement today (Friday), hackers had infiltrated the IT system and attacked the internal security systems.
"This criminal action resulted in the theft of publishable company data," explained the Serie A club in the statement published on the official website.
According to the national daily newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, around 200 gigabytes (GB) of confidential data were stolen with the help of ransomware, a type of malware.
According to the report, sponsorship contracts, business plans and confidential information on players, employees and fans are now in the possession of the as yet unknown criminals. A scan of the passport of head coach Vincenzo Italiano (46) is also said to have been obtained without authorization.
A serious loss, as the traditional club also knows: "Anyone who comes into possession of this data is therefore warned not to distribute, pass on or use it in any other way, as this is a criminal offense."
Further details are not yet known. Meanwhile, blackmail could be a possible motive for the action - such acts usually involve the threat of publishing the stolen data until a ransom is paid.
