Deadly ritual: actress dies in agony during crazy ceremony
Mexico - An actress took part in a traditional and rather risky cleansing ritual - and had to pay for it with her life.

As reported by the Daily Mail , 33-year-old Marcela Alcázar Rodríguez died after performing the so-called Kambô ritual.
This dangerous tradition, which is mainly practiced in parts of South America, is said to rid the body of toxins.
During the ritual, the poison of the Amazon frog is applied to the skin after it has been burned with a red-hot stick. This is supposed to intensify the effect of the poison. However, this seemed to be too much for Marcela!
After ingesting the poison, the 33-year-old began vomiting violently and suffered from severe diarrhea.
Despite the serious symptoms, she was only taken to hospital later. The doctors there were unable to help her. Marcela died as a result of the poison.
According to witnesses, Marcela was initially refused help

The symptoms she showed were previously considered part of the "healing process", in which the body is supposed to be freed from trauma and illness.
It is still unclear how long Marcela had to struggle with these symptoms before she was admitted to hospital.
The police have now launched an investigation into involuntary manslaughter and are searching for the shaman Jonathan Fernando. He fled after the tragic incident.
The Kambô ritual is widespread in South America, but is also considered dangerous. In addition to severe vomiting and diarrhea, dizziness, fainting and swelling of the face can also occur.
As soon as the poison enters the bloodstream, there is an acute danger to life. Kambô is therefore banned in many countries.
