It was supposed to be the highlight of the fair in Enrique Estrada (central Mexico). But the "First Balloon Festival" of the tranquil town in central Mexico was overshadowed by a terrible incident, reports the portal Infobae.

Several videos show the terrible accident in detail. Three balloons were due to take off from a parking lot at around 8 am. However, a problem suddenly arises during the launch preparations for the blue and white balloon. An enormous jet of flame forms and engulfs the basket. The balloon begins to rise uncontrollably.

Almost all the passengers manage to escape from the burning device. But one 40-year-old did not survive the accident. Lucio helped his family out of the burning basket, but then he became entangled in the ropes, writes the newspaper"La Jornada".

The death balloon rose inexorably into the sky, an estimated 100 meters high, while Lucio clung to the rope. By then, flames and black smoke had already completely enveloped the basket, as another video shows. Only when the balloon implodes and falls to the ground does Lucio let go of the rope - his strength has apparently left him.

The 40-year-old fell to his certain death in front of shocked witnesses. Rescue workers later found his body in a field.

There is great sadness after the accident . The accident victim repaired cell phones and tablets, had achieved modest prosperity and was considered a loving family man. He leaves behind three small children and a grieving wife.

Meanwhile, the balloon flight organizer has come under heavy criticism. The company is said to have grossly disregarded safety standards, reports "La Journada". The hot air balloon was declared as a tethered balloon and should always have been connected with a rope. But the rope provided was far too thin, according to witnesses. The crew did not wear any safety equipment - not even protective gloves.

The Attorney General's Office of the state of Zacatecas wants to fully investigate the incident.
