As the Ugandan newspaper Monitor reports, around 300 people have already been affected by the mysterious disease, mainly women and girls.

Patients report high fevers and uncontrollable tremors that make walking difficult, while at the same time feeling paralyzed.

This unusual symptom has led locals to call the disease "Dinga Dinga", which means "trembling like dancing".

Many sufferers tried to alleviate their symptoms with herbal remedies, but doctors strongly advised them not to, as the disease cannot be treated with herbal medicine.

Illness remains a mystery, despite medical examinations

In most cases, the disease disappeared without treatment, but antibiotics were administered for severe symptoms. (symbolic image)
