Dog abandoned on the roadside - what he does next breaks hearts

California (USA) - What could have happened to this poor animal? For days it sat in the same place on the side of the road - seemingly waiting for someone who never came.

Suzette Hall was heartbroken when she learned of the fate of the little abandoned furry friend yesterday, Wednesday.

"The neighbors told me that he sometimes walked up and down the street, but always returned to his spot," she has since written in a post on her Facebook account.

The animal rescuer knew immediately that this stray needed her help. And so she made it her mission to knock on every door in the neighborhood. She desperately hoped to find the animal's owner.

But unfortunately without success.

So another solution had to be found: Hall would have to catch the dog and bring it to safety.

However, this was more difficult than expected. Although the four-legged friend was delighted to see them and their helpers - he was finally shown that someone cared about him - his fear of the strangers was too great to approach them.

The sight made Hall terribly sad. "His back was covered in fleas, everything seemed to itch. That poor baby."

And so she decided not to give up the dog under any circumstances. Again and again, she did everything she could to lure him to her.

After a little while, this finally worked. The dog had been far too hungry to distrust Hall any longer.

As the rescue team finally set off, fireworks were set off around them - after all, California was also welcoming in the New Year.

Fortunately, the stray was already safely in Hall's car at this point and no longer had to be afraid.
