Waco (USA) - He had to endure a lot and was almost euthanized. But in the end, pit bull mix Squishy was lucky. After the dog was picked up on the street in Texas with his beloved stuffed animal in his mouth, he was quickly put on a list for euthanasia at the animal shelter due to suspected cancer. But before that could happen, rescue came in the form of Brooke Reese (22).
The student from Waco took Squishy from the animal shelter on November 17. Of course, the dog took his beloved stuffed toy named Stitch with him, which he hardly ever let go of afterwards.
After a while, Reese noticed how worn the dog toy had become. The four-legged friend literally loved his faithful companion and chewed on it from time to time.
Finally, the 22-year-old decided to perform an "emergency operation" on Stitch. However, this turned out to be not so easy. Because Squishy naturally didn't want to give up his treasure.
Nevertheless, the "operation" can be seen in a TikTok video that went viral at the beginning of December. What the dog does in the video has enchanted so many users ever since.

The dog stands next to his mistress, squatting on the floor and sewing thread by thread. After all, the beloved cuddly toy should soon shine again in new splendor.
The four-legged friend's nervousness is almost palpable in the touching clip.
"Squishy was very worried about Stitch during the operation. He never left my side and watched my every move as I sewed Stitch's tail back on," said Reese in an interview with Newsweek this week.
The video has now reached more than three million clicks on TikTok, plus a good 475,000 likes.
"I fell in love with Squishy when I saw him at the shelter. He was so excited yet shy, and I loved how much he loved his cuddly toy," says Reese.
Many a TikToker now feels the same way. This dog is something very special.
