Washington D.C. (USA) - US President Donald Trump (78) is making short work of the situation: with a new decree that he signed on Friday, he wants to ban migrants who do not have valid residence documents from the USA even faster.

The aim is for illegal immigrants to deport themselves with the help of state-funded flights and other incentives. Trump christened the program "Project Homecoming".

In a video on his Truth Social network, the US President explained that he wanted to make it as easy as possible for "illegal aliens", as he repeatedly calls them, to leave the United States.

The people will be provided with a so-called exit bonus, which, among other things, will allow them a free flight to their home country and also offer a concierge service at the airport to make their journey easier.

"Any illegal foreigner can just turn up at an airport and get a free flight out of our country," the 78-year-old continues.

As long as it is not the USA , they can fly wherever they want. The US President could not have made his intentions any clearer.

In addition, each person is to receive 1,000 US dollars (the equivalent of around 889 euros) for leaving the country. According to Trump, his order would save the American taxpayer billions of dollars, if not trillions.

Illegal immigrants who decide to stay in the USA despite the "benefits" would face "severe consequences".

This includes fines and prison sentences or sudden deportations "to a place and in a manner that is solely at our discretion", Trump continued.

"We want you to leave America," Trump ended his video address. The program he has initiated is to come into force in the next 60 days.
