As the Daily Mail reports, heavy rain and snow caused devastating flooding in the region last weekend - roads were under water and fields were destroyed.

But the biggest drama took place on a farm in Mickle Trafford, where numerous sheep were trapped by the floods.

The fire department reacted with lightning speed and launched a heroic rescue operation.

With three fire engines, a rescue boat and several inflatable boats, the emergency services set out to save the animals.

The rapid response prevented worse - most of the sheep were brought to safety. Unfortunately, a small number of the animals did not survive the fight against the floods.

In addition to the grazing animals, the farmers also suffered heavy losses. The floods caused enormous damage to the fields and destroyed a large part of the harvest.
