End of "Generation Alpha": In the new year, Generation ...
Sydney - The days of Generation Alpha are numbered: From the new year, there will be a new name for all those who will see the light of day between 2025 and 2039.

While terms such as "Gen Z", "Boomer" or "Millenials" still sound reasonably cool, newborns from January 1, 2025 will be able to claim to be part of "Generation Beta".
This unspectacular name is derived from the Greek alphabet, as there has been talk of a "Generation Alpha" since 2010. For better or worse, Alpha is followed by Beta.
Nevertheless, Australian social researcher Mark McCrindle is certain that the next generation is also facing exciting times. Many of those born in the future will live to see the 22nd century!
And there's more: "While Generation Alpha has seen the rise of smart technologies and artificial intelligence, Generation Beta will live in a time when AI and automation are fully embedded in everyday life," writes McCrindle in a blog post.
But not all prospects for the future of betas are rosy.
Generation Beta faces major challenges

In view of current developments and events around the globe, the scientist is certain: "Generation Beta will also inherit a world that is struggling with major social challenges."
Climate change is also one of them, as the parents of Generation Beta, members of the "Millenials" and "Gen Z", have already been confronted with greater environmental awareness during their upbringing. This is now being passed on to their offspring.
Researchers will be able to assess whether these predictions actually come true from 2040, when a new generation enters the world stage.
Incidentally, there is already a name for this generation that remains true to the Greek alphabet: "Generation Gamma".
