Russian investigators have classified the murder of General Igor Kirillov in Moscow as a terrorist attack.

Kirillov and his aide were killed in a bomb explosion in Moscow this morning, according to the National Investigative Committee.

The explosive device was detonated in an electric scooter when Kirillov left the house in the morning to be driven to work.

The 54-year-old was one of the best-known faces of the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

Kiev's secret service (SBU) accused Kirillov of using chemical weapons

On Monday, Kiev's secret service (SBU) made allegations that Kirillov was responsible for the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine. Russia has repeatedly declared that it has eliminated its chemical weapons. Kirillov, in turn, had accused Ukraine of operating US biolaboratories on its territory, among other things.

Russia's chief investigator Alexander Bastrykin took control of the case. According to Russian media, the explosive device was presumably detonated by a cell phone signal. Mobile phone connections in the district are now also being investigated, it was reported.

In the course of the war of aggression against Ukraine , there have been repeated attacks against officers and propagandists in Russia. Moscow repeatedly blamed Ukraine for this.
