Fire breaks out in hotel! Over 270 guests evacuated, several injured

Abano Terme (Italy) - A fire broke out in a hotel in the northern Italian municipality of Abano Terme this Sunday night! All 273 guests have been evacuated from the "Alexander Palace Hotel", 31 people have suffered smoke inhalation.

According to the Italian news agency"Ansa", the flames broke out in the technical room on the second floor of the building and created clouds of smoke that spread throughout the building. Firefighters extinguished the flames during the night.

A family of three with a small child, who were trapped on the sixth floor, were rescued using a turntable ladder. The emergency services treated guests on site and several people went to an emergency room on their own, it was reported.

Nicola Petruzzi, President of the Abano Polyclinic, draws a positive conclusion about the care provided to patients: "We can describe it as an extraordinary event that was managed in the best possible way thanks to the skills of all our staff and the organization set up to deal with a large influx of people in need of treatment."

Abano Terme is a spa and popular health resort in the province of Padua (Veneto), located in the Euganean Hills. These are known for their thermal water springs.
