Former Bundesliga coach has found a new club!

Salzburg (Austria) - At the beginning of April this year, Bundesligaclub VfL Bochum released Thomas Letsch (56) from his duties as head coach due to a worrying negative trend. However, the 56-year-old has now found a new employer - at his old place of work.

As it was announced this Wednesday morning, the German will take over as coach of Austrian first division club FC Red Bull Salzburg from January 3.

Letsch himself is no stranger to the club, where he has signed a contract until June 30, 2027: He has already gained experience in the Red Bulls' camp in the past - and was in charge of the U16 and U18 teams at the Red Bull Football Academy, among others.

He was also under contract as head coach at FC Liefering from 2015 to 2017 and once also took over as interim coach at his new old club.

"Thomas knows our club very well from the past, but has also gained a lot of experience on the international stage in various leagues in his other coaching positions," Salzburg's managing director Rouven Schröder is quoted as saying.

"With the swift clarification of this important personnel matter, we can continue planning for a successful spring season without restrictions."

Letsch, who was on the Bohumer touchline from 2022 to 2024, is delighted to be part of Salzburg again: "It feels very good to be back here. FC Red Bull Salzburg is a special club for me, one with which I've experienced a lot and to which I can now return as head coach."

"It is important to me that we grow together as a team, because we will only be successful if everyone pulls together."
