Formula 1 hammer announced! He succeeds Schumi's son at Mercedes
Germany - Formula 1 return to his old stomping ground! Mercedes won five Constructors' World Championships in a row with him and, together with British motorsport superstar Lewis Hamilton (39), he was part of the Silver Arrows' dominance. Now, three years after his departure, Valtteri Bottas (35) is back.

As the racing team announced today (Thursday), the 35-year-old Finn is "rejoining the brand with the star" and will be deployed as a reserve driver for the team of Head of Motorsport Toto Wolff (52) from the coming season.
The 52-year-old knows about the qualities of his new old driver: "His influence and contribution in the five years he was with us as a regular driver were immense. He not only won several Grands Prix, but also played a decisive role in five of our title wins," the Austrian is quoted as saying in an official statement from the German works team.
"But not only that, he was also a fantastic colleague and team member. His dry sense of humor and likeable nature made him a favorite of everyone at Brackley and Brixworth," Wolff also explained.
With his new job, Bottas now joins the Daimler family as the third driver behind Italy's young star Andrea Kimi Antonelli (18) and Briton George Russell (26) - and also takes over from Mick Schumacher (25). The latter had occupied the position for the last two years.

In November of this year, the son of racing legend Michael (55) announced that he would be stepping down for the coming season.
Bottas is looking forward to his comeback and is also certain that he can "contribute a lot more" in motorsport's premier class. After five seasons (2017-2021) with Mercedes, Bottas had joined racing rival Alfa Romeo in 2022, having previously raced for Kick Sauber.
