After the ceremony, the two men met at the British ambassador's residence and spoke for around 40 minutes.

As the New York Post reported, the 42-year-old greeted Trump at the door and greeted him with the words: "Nice to have you here."

As the two posed for photos in the foyer of the building, the 78-year-old praised the heir to the throne and said: "He's a great man. He's going to do a fantastic job."

The men had a "warm, friendly meeting" and discussed a range of global issues. They focused in particular on the importance of "the special relationship between the UK and the US".

Trump also shared some fond memories of the late Queen with the future king, for which the royal was very grateful.

The 78-year-old and Prince William last met in 2019, when the then President was on a state visit to the UK.
