Hikers go on tour in the Giant Mountains: what they find takes their breath away
Hradec Králové (Czech Republic) - You don't find something like this every day. Two hikers from the Czech Republic were probably amazed when they took a closer look at a strange pile of stones.

A lucky find in the Giant Mountains!
At the end of February, two hikers made a spectacular discovery there. On the eastern slope of the 671-metre-high Zvičina mountain near the town of Dvůr Králové nad Labem (Queen's Court on the Elbe) lay a huge treasure trove of gold.
The two treasure chests lay in a collapsed stone wall on the edge of an overgrown field, according to a recent report by the news portal CT24. They contained: Gold coins, jewelry and other precious items. All in all, around 4 kilos of gold. Estimated value: more than 300,000 euros.
The honest finders handed the treasures over to the East Bohemian Museum in Hradec Králové. But they can still be happy. They are entitled to a finder's fee based on the material value or 10 percent of the historical value.
Czech Republic: Hikers find enormous treasure trove of gold

The archaeologists suspect that the treasure must have been hidden after the First World War. The minting date of the gold coins would indicate this, the museum wrote on Facebook.
No fewer than 598 gold coins, 16 gold-plated cigarette cases, 10 gold bracelets and a comb were counted. The coins come mainly from Yugoslavia, the Ottoman Empire, Austria-Hungary and France. There were none from Germany or Czechoslovakia.
"The treasure was hidden in the ground for over a hundred years," explains Vojtěch Brádle, the museum's numismatist. The coins were therefore minted between 1908 and 1915. However, the historical value of the treasure is inestimable.
Why the gold treasure was buried in Bohemia of all places is still a mystery to the researchers. They want to thoroughly examine the objects found with it.
