The attack took place in the city of Adampur in the Indian state of Punjab, according to a statement from the armed forces. The information could not be verified. According to Indian media, the military even explicitly denied the account from Pakistan.

The claim that an S-400 air defense system in Adampur had been destroyed was not true, the newspaper "The Indian Express" quoted a military representative as saying.

Hypersonic missiles are considered particularly dangerous as they are difficult to intercept by missile defense systems due to their high speed and maneuverability.

The Pakistani government had previously spoken of missile attacks on Indian military bases. Several military targets were destroyed during "Operation Bunjan". The government also announced that Indian attacks on three military bases in the Pakistani province of the same name, Punjab, had been repelled without causing any casualties or damage.

Explosions were reported from several cities in the country during the night.

Attacks after terrorist attack

A few days ago, India attacked several targets in Pakistan and in the Pakistan-administered part of Kashmir. The attacks were in response to a terrorist attack on April 22 in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people were killed - most of them Indian tourists. India's government accuses Pakistan of involvement, which the leadership in Islamabad rejects.

The border region of Kashmir is also a perpetual source of conflict between the two sides. The region is dividedbetween Pakistan and India, but both lay claim to the territory.
