In intensive care: Pregnant bride marries despite illness
USA/Minnesota - It's a bittersweet ceremony: a couple say "I do" in the intensive care unit after the heavily pregnant bride was admitted to hospital just two weeks before the planned wedding date.

As Northern News New reports, 23-year-old Arianna Sleen from the US state of Minnesota was hospitalized for severe back pain, but her condition worsened dramatically.
The doctors diagnosed severe pneumonia and septic shock. As a result, she had to be given artificial respiration, all while pregnant with her first child.
Her condition remained critical for several days, according to a GoFundMe page. She was also battling a severe urinary tract infection and kidney inflammation with abscesses.
"I was really scared. These are the two most important people in my life - and they were both fighting to survive," said groom Chandler Sleen.

But despite all the complications, the miracle happened: Arianna's condition suddenly improved and she was taken off the ventilator exactly one day before the planned wedding.
The next morning she got up again for the first time and decided without further ado to go through with the wedding.
The hospital also supported the touching idea and so the nurses quickly became wedding planners.
They set up the couple's own room, made room for food - and even provided a wedding cake.
After the nurses had decorated the room and helped Arianna into her wedding dress, she and her fiancé said "I do" at the hospital bedside.
