Knife attack on the street: Perpetrator stabs woman and children

London/England - There was a serious incident in London last Friday evening : a woman and two children aged two and eight were injured in a knife attack.

The emergency services arrived at the scene at around 5.30 pm. A man attacked a woman in her 30s and her two children. It is believed that the perpetrator and the victims knew each other.

As The Sun reports, the eight-year-old girl suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital. The woman and the toddler were also treated, but their condition is still uncertain.

The suspected perpetrator was arrested at the scene and was taken to hospital for examination before being transferred to the police station .

Footage from the scene shows a large contingent of rescue and police vehicles, and a helicopter is also said to have been on the scene.

"This is a truly shocking attack and I would like to thank local residents for their help and patience while we deal with this incident," said one of the investigators.

"As things stand, we assume that the people involved knew each other and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident."
