Like in "Fack ju Göhte": Fake teacher arrested after years of teaching
Linz (Austria) - A man reminiscent of Elyas M'Barek's (42) character "Zeki Müller" from the film "Fack ju Göhte" (2013) : After years of working as a German and sports teacher, a 48-year-old fake teacher from Upper Austria has been sentenced by a court in Linz.

As reported by the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), the 48-year-old had applied for jobs as a secondary school teacher in several Austrian federal states and submitted forged certificates from 2005 - with success!
In the 2010/11 school year, he was employed in the capital Vienna for six months, from 2017 he taught in Upper and Lower Austria, most recently in Steyr.
The false teacher was only discovered because he lost his wallet in the summer of 2024. It was discovered and handed in to the police. During the check, officers found a fake police ID card (allegedly only for carnival) and several university ID cards. After investigations, it turned out that his certificates were also forged.
According to the public prosecutor's office, the 48-year-old had built his professional future "on a shaky foundation". The forged documents also proved that he had at least "a certain amount of criminal energy".
The fake teacher was popular with pupils

The 48-year-old's defense emphasized his popularity with the students. There had never been anything to complain about in his lessons. So, everything was fine? No!
The judge nevertheless sentenced the man, saying that the case reminded her of the movie "Fack ju Göhte". He was given three months' probation.
The 48-year-old fake teacher claimed that he was "very sorry for everything". He had been exmatriculated from the university in the 7th semester due to a lack of internships. However, becoming a teacher had always been his goal. Despite everything, his wish now is to teach again.
