Yes, you read that right!

As People reported in reference to a police press release, 21-year-old Christian Hernandez Palma allegedly hit Stirling Kelso (63) with his car on Wednesday.

The 63-year-old had been cleaning the parking lot of a car wash at the time. It is still unclear why he was doing this. He was not an employee of the facility at the time.

But one thing is certain: He did not survive the accident.

Instead of immediately calling the police or an ambulance, Palma decided to wash his car first - just a few meters away from Kelso's lifeless body.

A passer-by noticed him and the dead man, called the police and asked Palma what had happened. He only replied that he had no idea.

He then made off.

21-year-old justifies hit-and-run: "I was scared"

When he was finally apprehended and questioned by the police, he justified his actions by saying that he had been "scared" and did not know what to do.

At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of a forged residence permit for the USA . He did not have a driver's license.

The 21-year-old is currently in custody.

Fox 13 News has since spoken to the victim's daughter, Misty Kelso: "I spoke to him just yesterday," she said on Thursday. "He loved eagles, he was an eagle fan, loved anything to do with eagles and collected anything with eagles. Now he flies with the Eagles himself."
