Mother receives call from son: Shortly afterwards she cries her eyes out

Illinois (USA) - She cries her eyes out in front of the camera: Christine Litteken, who lives in the US state of Illinois with her husband and two children, has been going viral on TikTok for a few days now. In the video, she gives free rein to her emotions. The cell phone she filmed herself with was held directly in her hand a few days ago. The reason for her emotional outburst was the sentences that her son (7) had said to her on the phone shortly before.

In this curious clip, the mother of two is at a loss for words. While she is in tears, Litteken simply fades in a long subtitle explaining what is upsetting her so much.

Her son had called her from a basketball game that he had been watching with his friends at school. He was using a smartwatch for this.

"He literally just called me to tell me he was having fun at the game and the big kids were giving him high-fives," writes the US-American. Then he shouted: "Guys, say hi, it's my mom."

When she heard this, her heart "exploded", says Litteken. She was immediately overcome with emotion.

But why exactly did the TikToker react so emotionally?

"I was so proud of him," she said in an interview with Newsweek this week. "At that age, boys are so cool. Him being so proud of me was such a healing feeling," she explained.

Normally, she wouldn't share something like this on TikTok, Litteken said. But in this case, she made an exception: "The tears were flowing, the emotions were real. I had my phone in my hand and the text just wrote itself."

Since its release last weekend, it has become clear that her video has struck a nerve.

The clip has now reached 5.8 million clicks and more than 975,000 likes. It doesn't always have to be the perfect ideal world on TikTok.
