Mountain rescuers are called out on a mission: On the way there they make a terrible discovery
Vysoké Tatry (Slovakia) - Shock in Slovakian climbing area! Yesterday, Saturday, mountain rescuers had to be deployed to Gerlachovský štít (2655 meters), the highest peak in the High Tatras. On the way to the rescue site, they made a terrible discovery.

According to the"HZS" emergency center, a poorly equipped group of Polish tourists got into difficulties in strong winds and snow.
A leading member had fallen down the rocks and was therefore out of sight and earshot of his companions. Two mountain rescue teams then immediately made their way to the group's reported location.
"After the ascent, a body was found around the second half," explained the emergency services. It was the lifeless body of the man who had died in the accident.
A short time later, the rescuers came across another hiker. "He was immediately warmed up by the rescuers and given hot drinks," the report states.
Weather conditions made deployment difficult

The remaining couple was also discovered after 300 meters - trapped, as it turned out on site.
Both tourists received first aid and, together with the third person, were brought to the Sliezsky Dom Hotel in the Batizovska Valley using chain climbing irons, climbing harnesses and ropes. There, ambulances were waiting to transport them onwards.
"The rescue operation was made more difficult by strong gusts of wind, which formed a continuous layer of ice in the rocky terrain," the organization explained afterwards.
The dead man was rescued from the rock massif on Sunday in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.

The police are now examining the body. So far, the identity of the man and the specific cause of the tragic accident are still unclear.
