Parents lock adopted children in barn and treat them like slaves - now facing 215 years in prison!
USA - A couple who locked their adopted children in a barn and forced them to work as "slaves" have now been charged with human trafficking.

Jeanne Kay Whitefeather (62) and Donald Lantz (63) from the US state of West Virginia were sentenced last Wednesday.
As People reported, the 62-year-old was found guilty on all 19 counts, including human trafficking, forced labor, gross child neglect and child abuse.
Donald was also convicted of the same charges, but was acquitted on four counts.
The couple adopted the children from a home for homeless and at-risk youth. In doing so, they specifically chose certain children - all were POC's, while they themselves are white.

The two allegedly locked the five children in a barn, forced them to use buckets as toilets and coerced them to work as "slaves". Fortunately, a neighbor called the police when he saw Donald lock his eldest adopted daughter and her younger brother in said barn and leave the property.
An officer was able to quickly free the children and also found a nine-year-old girl in the house crying alone.
During the trial, the eldest daughter was able to testify. She stated that they had to stand in their rooms for hours "to prevent us from falling asleep" and that they were sprayed with pepper spray if they disobeyed orders - for example, to keep their hands on their heads for long periods of time.
They were also insulted with racist remarks and physical violence was used.
The sentencing is scheduled for March. Whitefeather faces up to 215 years in prison, while Lantz could face a sentence of up to 75 years.
